We are a non-profit organization whose purpose is to fund spaying/neutering programs and provide education for responsible pet ownership. This is highly important in Peru as it is estimated that there are more than 12 million dogs and cats on the streets.
Our impact is in three areas:
We help prevent stray animals from suffering from hunger, animal cruelty or from being run over through sterilization campaigns. In addition, decreasing the number of stray animals also means that each of the strays that remain will have a better chance of finding a home.
The highest concentration of stray animals is found in the poorest areas of the country, where children are vulnerable to diseases transmitted by different bacteria or viruses that the animals carry.
Many low-income families are concerned about the reproduction of their pets because they would not be able to care for the pups or pay for sterilization.
